Guinea has substantial water resources, yet reliable and affordable drinking water remains a major challenge.
The Greater Conakry water master plan estimated demand at around 400,000 m³ per day by the end of 2024, compared with available production capacity of about 150,000 m³ per day.
Production is only the first deficit
Major investments are planned in treatment, storage, transmission and distribution.
The second challenge is the network
Being technically connected does not necessarily mean receiving continuous service. Pressure, continuity, losses, storage, household connections and commercial management determine what actually reaches the tap.
Direction of travel
The first priority is a sufficiently detailed territorial view of needs and performance to identify where additional investment can deliver the fastest and greatest service improvement.
We deliberately do not publish the technical, financial and territorial prioritisation criteria here.
